pavucontrol

PulseAudio Volume Control — a GTK-based volume control tool for the PulseAudio sound server. This build tracks upstream 6.x (GTK4) with custom patches for compact mode.

Why this build?

Ubuntu 24.04 ships pavucontrol 5.0 (GTK3). This build is pavucontrol 6.2 with two NetLinux patches:

GTK4 upgrade — upstream 6.2 uses gtkmm-4.0, bringing modern UI rendering, better performance, and future compatibility over the distro’s GTK3 build
Compact mode — a “Compact layout” checkbox in settings collapses each device and stream into a single row with inline volume slider and percentage readout, hiding per-channel sliders, device selectors, and port menus
Volume meters in compact mode — peak meter bars are reparented into the compact row at a reduced 4px height, so you can see audio activity without expanding the full widget
